GOATS
Monach Farm has suitably approved and licensed vehicles for transporting stock throughout the UK and near continent within the WATO 2006 regulations. We have Type 1 Authorisation as competent animal transporters valid for all lengths of journeys up to 8 hours for all species of livestock. Exports elsewhere in Europe overland and to the wider world by air can be arranged.
The herd has been annually negative tested for CAE for over 25 years. We have also been Scrapie Monitored with DEFRA since 2001..
Many of our animals have our own breeding prefix for 10 or more generations and also bred for their longevity with some of our milkers still producing high yield at over 10 years old.
The goats are kept as a commercial enterprise on a mixed livestock farm. The goats are bred primarily for their milk production with the average herd yield being 1600 litres per annum ( ranging between 1200kg/year - 2000kg/year) per goat. The goats are Milk Recorded with The British Goat Society.
Over the last 20 years we have had export links with a number of countries including: China, Denmark, Holland, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Kenya, Switzerland, Trinidad, Kuwait, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Russia, Bermuda, Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Five of our home-bred male goats have gained their British Goat Society 'Sire of Merit' status and four of our female goats have become Dams of Excellence and three have become Breed Champions.
Healthy good quality kids are a vital part of our programme not only for herd replacment but also for export to other countries and for supplying high quality males to commercial herds in the UK.
Monach Farm also has a small herd of Pygmy Goats. Stock is occasionaly available for sale.
